It’s no small secret the PS5 has struggled to sufficiently meet demand, this early in its life cycle. Shortages have ravaged supply, even 5 months removed from the consoles initial release. Yet, even in spite of this well known fact, the PS5 has continued its dominance in the UK’s market. As we now know, the PS5 has become the UK’s best-selling console for the second month in a row.
According to gamesindustry.biz, this was the PS5’s second biggest month thus far into its early life. This also comes off of the heels of other inklings proving the consoles success overseas. Particularly, the point pertaining to the PS5 already outselling the PS Vita, Wii U and Dreamcast lifetime sales, in just under 5 months on the market. Which, let’s be honest, is probably more of an indication on just how poorly those systems performed in the UK. Nonetheless, it’s a cool little fact to know.

The Xbox Series X/S placed in second, while the Nintendo Switch placed in third. In terms of games, Sony could really benefit from the release of Ratchet, Resident Evil Village and Returnal.
Take a look at this:
Position | Title |
1 | Animal Crossing New Horizons (Nintendo) |
2 | Super Mario 3D World+Bowser’s Fury (Nintendo) |
3 | Monster Hunter Rise (Capcom) |
4 | Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Sony) |
5 | Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (Nintendo) |
6 | Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Nintendo) |
7 | FIFA 21 (EA) |
8 | Minecraft: Switch Edition (Nintendo/Mojang) |
9 | Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Activision) |
10 | Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar) |
Out of the top 10, best-selling physical games, only one is a Sony exclusive title. Which, is nice to see Miles Morales still hanging on, so many months removed from launch. But, I think it’s safe to assume Sony is itching to get more titles in there soon.
