Back in September 2020, Developer CD Projekt Red broke news that they would be bringing a ‘next-gen update’ to the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X version of their mega-popular hit game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to current-gen consoles as a free upgrade to those who own it.
Unfortunately the next 12 months weren’t exactly the best of times for CDPR. I’m pretty sure I don’t have to remind you of the highs and (mostly) lows the entire team has been through since that announcement, even if developer Saber Interactive is doing most of the work.
Now we have some good news! The Brahs over at the European game rating committee, PEGI, have rated the game for the PS5 and Xbox Series! That can only mean one thing: Information (or release?!) VERY soon.

The game will also be coming to current-gen consoles as the ‘Complete Edition‘, containing all the previous content plus NEW content based on the Netflix show. The new content will be free, so don’t worry about buying the game again.

I guess it makes sense for them to delay Cyberpunk after what happened at release but I thought they’d outsourced The Witcher?

I’m thinking that both of these delays have something to do with, who would’ve guessed it! Investors! As far as I know they don’t have any big releases planned for next year. Both will be released as free updates for current owners and as new SKUs on current-gen consoles.
