Thanks to a few listings, we know just what Naughty Dog is looking to bring to their next project. The team has expressed plans to “bring the same level of ambition and quality of our story-driven games” to its new online project. We can assume this is in reference to the Naughty Dog standalone, The Last of Us multiplayer game. Dubbed Factions, which had been announced just prior to The Last of Us Part II’s release.

What’s worth noting is the possibility of this project exceeding our expectations. As with every job listing we see, seems to point to an even larger scale than a simple side project. This is shaping up to be quite the sizable experience that will look to mirror the quality Naughty Dog is known for.
The original Factions on PS3 was somewhat of a cult classic. Having no right to be as good as it actually turned out. We know PlayStation is looking to develop more 1st party multiplayer centric titles this generation. So, what better way to kick this off with a title underneath the umbrella of one of your most popular ip’s. Rumors of a The Last of Us Remake have also floated about recently. So, seeing the logistics and timing for the release of Factions and the remake will be interesting.
