In a press conference, 505 Games has announced they will publish Ghostrunner 2. A sequel to the unforgiving and brutal, first person action-slasher. Releasing last year, the game received a glowing review from the PlayStation Brahs and was personally one of my favorites of 2020.
The Future of Ghostrunner
Seemingly, 505 views Ghostrunner as a franchise with growing potential. They revealed the first game had surpassed the 600,000 copies sold milestone, a figure achieved on multiple systems. One More Level has also been allocated a initial budget of 5 million euros.
Digital Bros co-CEO Raffaele Galante said:
We are particularly excited about the future release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we have created a thrilling and engaging video game.
While details remain slim for now, a sequel is definitely welcome news. The difficulty has been well documented, however, the game never felt like it presented a challenge that was insurmountable. If you struggled with an area, more than likely, your inability to progess fell on your shoulders.
More often than not, this was because of a mistake you made. Once the games mechanics click, however, no challenge feels impossible, no matter how much the game may escalate.
While we await the arrival of the sequel, support for Ghostrunner continues. A PS5 upgrade will land on the console later this year with all the bells and whistles you’d expect. The games received some new content as well, most notably, a kill mode and paid cosmetics.
However, support will continue well into the year with new features planned for the summer. One More Level has even released a road map for what players can expect for the game in the near future.
Which, will always go a long way for fans looking for more transparency. Regardless, it’s reassuring to see the Ghostrunner brand receive further investment. The first game laid out an addictive and tough as nails formula that should improve further with a sequel.
