Here’s some good news for all y’all who totally dig the RPG gameplay: it’s the new norm for the series going forward, while the Judgement series will be focused on Action/being a badass detective.
Series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi confirmed the news in an interview with IGN:
The Yakuza series has been transformed into a turn-based RPG. On the other hand, over the year, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has accumulated resources and know-how of making flashy and exhilarating action games that are effortless to enjoy. We decided that we should let our signature action gameplay live on through Lost Judgement.
There you have it. This could changed in the future (if sales suddenly tank!) but it looks like in the near future you’ll have Yakuza 0 – 6 to remind you of your glory days!
