News broke last week when Xbox announced that MLB The Show 21 would be a Day One title on Xbox Game Pass, shocking both PlayStation and Xbox fans alike.
Once fans begun to question the decision, it was quickly discovered that ‘MLB’ was the publisher for the Xbox version and not SIE.
PlayStation has been quiet, until now. They sent a response to both Inverse and Game Informer, insinuating that it was MLB’s decision to bring it to Xbox Game Pass, not PlayStation’s.
As part of the goal for this year’s game, MLB decided to bring the franchise to more players and baseball fans. This decision provides a unique opportunity to further establish MLB The Show as the premier brand for baseball video games.
Either way, Sony is going to make profit from the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, alongside whatever cut they get from being the developer of the game on all consoles.
Will you be buying MLB The Show 21 or giving it a download as part of your Xbox Game Pass subscription?
