Polyphony Digital admitted in early 2020 that updates coming to Gran Turismo Sport would be less frequent and not as jam packed as they once were.

Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.63 is now live. Check out all the details here.

They didn’t lie. As the team at Polyphony Digital transitions from GTS to GT7, the most recent update was back in November of 2020. Now, three days before the start of the FIA Online Championship Exhibition Season begins on February 27th, we’re getting an update next week!

At the following time, we will perform maintenance on the ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ servers.
A new game update will also be available after the maintenance. Please note that during this time the online services, including [Sport Mode], will not be available.

Before we get too excited, this update could end up being absolutely nothing. You would think a potential free PS5 upgrade would’ve received much more news and headlines, so we don’t think that’s the answer.

But as GTPlanet points out, there’s a few cars that have been introduced that have yet to hit GTS since their reveal(s) so who knows?!

With a rumored release date of 2021 for Gran Turismo 7, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see what the future holds for it and Gran Turismo Sport.
