According to the Linkedin profile of one, Michael Mumbauer, the former Studio Head and Senior Director of Sony’s Visual Arts team, we may have an idea of what this newly ramped up, San Diego group is working on.

Here’s exactly what Mumbauer’s profile says:

His latest achievement is having built a brand new, all-star, AAA Action/Adventure development team for Playstation. Based in San Diego and utilizing proprietary engine technology, this team was assembled to expand upon existing franchises and craft all new stories for the next generation of gamers.

AAA Action/Adventure could point to a number of existing PlayStation franchises but, Uncharted and InFamous, immediately rise to the top of that list. In all honesty, the former seems the more likely candidate of the two.

This corroborates with rumors of a unannounced team based in San Diego that we’ve been hearing floating about since 2018. A team rumored to have been formed together in order to continue, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise, after the team finished with 2017’s, Uncharted The Lost Legacy.

Take a look at an article we published in October, detailing just some of the rumors and knowings surrounding this San Diego team. It’s important to know, since the publishing of this article, former lead, Quentin Cobb has left the San Diego team to join ZeniMax.

Are you guys happy with a possible return to Uncharted? Perhaps with a new lead to take the reins of this storied franchise? Or, would you like to see this team tackle a different Sony franchise, such as InFamous? Let us know in the comments below!
