PlayStation looks to be adding more talent to it’s recently established first-party studio in Malaysia.

Via a tweet, the team looks to be on the hunt for a Cinematic and In-Game animator to join Sony’s latest addition to the Worldwide Studios family.

But the following, without a doubt, stands as the most fascinating excerpt and detail we can gleam from this job posting:

Our Animation team is currently working on one of PlayStation’s well-known and well-loved franchises. We are looking for talented, highly motivated and creative animators to breathe life into the next chapter of cinematic storytelling.

There’s been rumblings as of late, pointing to Sony’s secret San Diego based studio, Visual Arts, as the studio who will take the reins on the Uncharted franchise for the foreseeable future.

In the past, this team has primarily provided support for the entirety of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studio’s but it could be possible that Sony has bigger plans for them. Now, maybe we’re seeing Sony’s new Malaysia Studio being placed in a position to back them up for a new title in the franchise?

It’s not completely out of the realm of possibility but there’s also the chance that both of these support teams, are simply working in conjunction with a larger first-party studio. One, that’s working on a new installment for a fan favorite franchise, for example, God of War Ragnarok or Horizon Forbidden West. Those two titles easily fit into the category of “well-known and well-loved”.

Either way, the gears are turning in the background and its only a matter of time before we get clear confirmation on exactly what PlayStation is up to with these teams.
